“GOD IS COUNTING ON YOU (2)” SCRIPTURE READINGS: Daniel 1:1 – 7 EXPOSITION: In Ghana, about 70% of the nation’s population is said to be Christians. The rest are a combination of all other religions. One would thus expect that the majority will influence the minority. Unfortunately, this is not so. It is in this more or less Christian nation (Ghana) that many vices such as bribery and corruption are rampant. When King Nebuchadnezzar besieged Judah, he instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs that he should bring to Babylon, some children of Israel (Children of God), with special qualities and could stand in the king's palace. The same criteria were used in selecting all the slaves to Babylon. Indicating that, any Hebrew slave that was carried to Babylon during the capture, was as good as his fellow. Yet only four of them stood firm for what they really were whiles in Israel. The rest forgot that they were not Babylonians but Israelites. KEY VERSE: Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. - Daniel 1:6 LESSONS/ LIFE APPLICATION: Beloved, the onus is laid on us, that out of the 70% Ghanaian (Christian) population, we should be found faithful. We should be part of the four who, despite all challenges, would still be able to stand firm. This would eventually change the heart of the political leaders and bring transformation into the system. PRAYER: Jesus let me ever be firmly grounded in and faithful unto thee. Amen. MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK: “And God gave Daniel favour and compassion in the sight of the chief of the eunuchs.” - Daniel 1:9 (ESV)
